Scrikss Metal and Plastic Company was established in Istanbul, on 18th December, 1963.

Among the founders of the company were Hayati V. Rodrik, Yako Yahya, Albert Mitrani, Tegolgos Yardimci,Ishak and Yusuf Ender brothers and Sevi brothers who were well known stationery importers and wholesalers at that period.

The initial capital of the company was 1.000.000 (one million) Turkish Lira.


The name is of Spanish origin, deriving from the word ‘Scribir’ which means “to write” in the Catalan language.

Scrikss had been producing ball point pens in Albacete, Spain during the Spanish Civil War which ended in 1939. Towards the end of the fifties, Scrikss decided to sell its brand name to a Swiss company called Mowe. In 1963 Mowe handed over all its rights to Hayati V. Rodrik who was one of the founders of Scrikss Metal and Plastic Company. By this change of ownership, Rodrik and his friends actually started producing writing instruments in Turkey.

When the capital of the firm increased by 50% in 1965, some company shares started changing hands. In the new structure of the board of directors, Hayati V. Rodrik acted as a CEO, A.Mitrani as the Marketing Director, Yako Yahya as the Factory Director and the new shareholder Erdogan Etel was the Executive Director.

The company started producing ball point pens under the brand name Scrikss at its own factory in Eski Londra Asfalti, Bahcelievler as from 1964.

The first Turkish fountain pen was manufactured in 1966 under the brand name “Scrikss” with the code name “17”. Except for its nib, it was a totally local production.

Quality and consumer satisfaction were top priorities for Scrikss. This was the reason that the company started to give a full one year warranty for its products.

1968 is the launching first year of the office set Scrikss mark. With his achievement, he was present in almost every office of the country.

In 1968, Scrikss in collavoration with the company INOXCROM, the production of the range 33 start.

Waterman, a French branded writing instruments company, joined Scrikss in 1974. Francine Gomez, known as Madame Waterman ( CEO and owner of the Waterman World ) gave the name rights of Jif Waterman fountain pens to Scrikss.

Scrikss initiated another first in Turkey under the name of Waterman, and started producing Waterman fountain pens with Waterman cartridges.

During the following 10 years, Ilancilik Advertising Agency prepared and published Scrikss advertisements in newspapers. Sark Gulu Company carried out the distribution of the products in Turkey.

Starting from 1976 all Scrikss pens were produced and sold with a full 1 year warranty.

Scrikss moved its contact office to Sirkeci Nuh-bir Han in 1981.

The stainless steel ‘Fine Liner 22’, the writing instrument with a fine nib, was introduced to the market in the same year.

Another important achievement by Scrikss in 1982, was offering a life time warranty to all Scrikss products. This warranty covered all mechanical malfunctions regardless of age. It received great praise from writers of consumer columns in newspapers.

In 1984, Scrikss became the distributor of the greatest American writing instrument brand, A.T. Cross, in Turkey after which the distributor agreement with Waterman was mutually terminated.

Sark Gulu and Scrikss got the distribution rights of the German brand Pelikan Pens in Turkey. Scrikss started importing Pelikan pens and Sark Gulu carried out the distribution.

Scrikss opened its wholesale store in Tahtakale Pir Han in 1986, and the Promotion - Business gift sales department was established in Sirkeci.

Sark Gulu and Scrikss separated their ways, Sark Gulu taking over the distribution of Pelikan pens in Turkey, and Scrikss distributing its own products and the wide range of Cross products in Turkey and North Cyprus.

In 1999, the young designer Kunter Sekercioglu realized another “first” achievement for Scrikss by designing the first desktop rollerball pen.

In the year 2000, Scrikss moved its contact office and promotion wholesale stores to Rasim Pasa Ishani in Eminonu Istanbul.

Scrikss relocated the production plant from Bahcelievler to its new address in Ikitelli, in 2002, and increased its paid-in capital to 531.000.00 (five hundred and thirty one thousand) YTL.

Kunter Sekercioglu’s new creation T54 was launched in 2005 with two different finishings (shiny and matt) and three novelties (twist-mechanism multipen, gel refill and mechanical pencil with 0.7 nib).

The last sophisticated member joining the group was the Italian Aquila in 2006, with its licensed brands; Lalex 1938, Ducati, Tibaldi-Da Vinci Code, Jaguar and Smart.

Besides writing instruments, Scrikss started to import Greenwitch brand note pads-date books, portfolios as well as Travel Blue’s Travel-Aid line, and City Office desktop products.

In 2007 the OskarTrading Group from the textile industry purchased 50% of the shares of Scrikss. With this reinforcement, Scrikss expanded its targets.

In 2008 Scrikss moved its headquarters and production facilities to Oskar Foreign Trading Group’s own building in Ikitelli. All departments work with better facilities and achieved a chance to improve research and quality control.

Scrikss changed its company name to SCRIKSS PEN, STATIONARY and OFFICE MATERIALS A.S. in 2008.

The latest item launched is the Katre-i Zer desktop set, made of genuine leather designed by Hulya Papuccuoglu. The set contains most useful items that make office life more pleasant.

The 45th anniversary of Scrikss heralded the start of a new era.
As from 2009, SCRIKSS started the design and production of special leather accesories.

In January 2009, the new products were exhibited at the Paperworld Fair which is held in Frankfurt every year. The Katre-i Zer Desk Set was displayed at "TRENDS", the most prestigious area of the fair.

Launched in december 2009, 1964 range aims at celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Scrikss company. The new writing instrument has been manufactured in Italy by Aquila Brans and re-designed by Tibaldi Design Team. This range is available as a limited edition of only 210 pieces (110 fountain pens+100 rollerball pens ). Materials of high quality were used, highlighted by the solid 925 silver body and the 14k white gold nib. The box is made of wood lacquered with multiple layers of black lacquer.
The classical chiseled appearance, the perfect workmanship of the range is a demonstration of finesse that combines utility with beauty.
